Graffiti Truck in LES

I don't know what this truck is used to deliver, but I know that some amazing graffiti artists got their hands on it!  I saw this on April 25, 2009 at Bond and Lafayette Streets in NYC while wandering to SOHO (taken by my iPhone.)

I've never loved graffiti, but have come to really respect urban art through reading the blog The World's Best Ever.

Alamo Bowl Thoughts

Some random thoughts from just after the 2007 Alamo Bowl wrapped up:

- Go State! My twice-over alumus pulled one out! Maybe a nice lead in to the 2008 college football season...
- Evan Royster and Daryll Clark both looked good, and look like they'll be more than solid contributors to the offense next year.
- The Aggie band looks like some park ranger squad that got lost on their way to the campfire (excuse me 'bonfire') or something.
- I wish I would have been eating some Tex-Mex on the Riverwalk before the game.
- Chris Fowler, normally a pretty good announcer, didn't say Penn State safety Anthony Scirrotto's last name correctly once. He continuously said something that sounded like "Serrano" - like the big voodoo master from the Major League movies.
- The game went much better with some wings from the best wing joint in Indiana County - The Rayne Drop Inn (we had Sweet-Hot and Louisiana Lickers).

eRecycling

While at home for the Christmas holiday I've been discussing the Green Movement with my Mother who has always been a steadfast recycler of paper, bottles, cans, and plastic. She's now stepped it up to serious composting to feed her garden. All well and good, but when asked how green I am I kind of stuttered; because I am - but I'm not to the fullest extent that one could be.

I feel that it's not necessarily worth it to go completely out of your way to reduce your carbon footprint (for instance) by 1%. But after listening to her influence, and others', and then reading this blog post found on digg:

http://www.thedailygreen.com/environmental-news/latest/recycle-electronics-47122704

I got to seriously thinking about eRecycling. This is my industry, my career, my passion that is eventually going to fill the Earth with useless waste. How many people do you know that actually properly recycle used electronic equipment? It's very rare - I see yellowing computer parts and pieces set out with the standard trash all the time.

Dell is taking a step in the right direction by offering to recycle your old PC for free when you purchase a new one from them. Companies like Motherboard are doing their part by reusing old electronics boards to make new products (like this awesome business card holder).

I just hope that more and more influential electronics companies catch on and begin to help eliminate the growing amount of eWaste. This goes for us consumers too - look for a proper place to recycle your old PC, VCR, TV, etc. - the blog post above has some suggestions. I'm going to start really pursuing viable options for dispensing with my eWaste now.

Japanese Shopping in SOHO

So my lady and I traveled South of Houston this past weekend to rock some Japanese shopping in NYC! I walked away only with items purchased at a couple Japanese powerhouses that have migrated to the US. What better place to start than the hip shopping mecca...

UNI
QLO
http://www.uniqlo.com/us/
I got socks, a pink t-shirt, and...drum roll...a black velvet blazer for under $80. Poppin'!

MUJI
http://www.muji.com/
The new kid on the block. This store just opened in mid-November and is the first in the US. We waited in line to go in - ridiculous. I got some odds and ends (Christmas gifts, stationary, and a calender with Japanese holidays on it for Crew) - and would have been more impressed if there weren't WAY too many people in the store.

...if only I could have afforded...

Yohji Yamamoto

Amazing (mostly black) clothes. Wicked pricey, wicked cool. The guy behind the Adidas commissioned line Y-3. He had some skeleton gloves last year I'd love to find...

Christmas List...from Mr. Impossible

So I decided to have some fun and compose a Christmas list...mostly because everyone always says that I'm impossible to gift to. Let's see if this works...not that I'm really worried if I get anything for Christmas or not.
Ho Ho Ho...

I've taken a few moments to priorizite it...Amazon is definitely amazing by the way. https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/37XKADNCOV8OG/

Sigg Curves 1 Ltr Sustainable Aluminum Waterbottle

Vote!

Now this is my kind of voting:

http://www.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2007/ballot_reg.jsp

Jose Reyes for president? Senator Chase Utley? Joe Mauer definitely deserves a seat in the house!

In all reality, I would hope that fans don't continue their perverse trend of voting players into the MLB mid-season classic based simply on their names or their prior accomplishments on the diamond. If someone like Ian Kinsler doesn't play in this game instead of some washed up old man who's hey-day was 15 years ago, something is sorely wrong!

Get Some Nuts!

The venerable Mr. T is at it again fools!

I caught this video on Digg this evening...definitely a good laugh before bed. Those zany ad-makers - what will they think of next? Christopher Walken in a flying DeLorean rapping...or...not...
